Built on Qualcomm’s latest QCX216 chipset, the Cat1 bis module has been validated with Kigen’s eSIM solution based on the GSMA SGP.32 and related solutions. This addresses the rapidly increasing connectivity demands in the global IoT market and represents a major technological advancement in the IoT industry.

Ushering in the New Era of Smart Connectivity

The SIM7672 series modules are SIMCom’s latest generation Cat-1 bis products. They support LTE-FDD and LTE-TDD communication modes with outstanding performance, offering 10Mbps downlink and 5Mbps uplink speeds. The new generation Cat-1 bis products support lower power consumption compared to Cat-1, providing customers with improved transmission rates and bandwidth in a more cost-effective way. The module is packaged in LCC+LGA form, ensuring full compatibility with other SIMCom product lines such as A7672 (Cat-1 bis module), SIM7000/SIM7070 (NB/Cat M modules), and SIM800/SIM800F (2G modules). This high compatibility greatly reduces the complexity of transitioning from 2G/NB/Cat M products to LTE Cat-1 bis products, providing customers with more flexible design options.

Additionally, the SIM7672 series boasts a wide range of standard interfaces including UART, USB, I2C, and GPIO, and is equipped with drivers for various network protocols and operating systems such as Windows, Linux, and Android. It is perfect for supporting major IoT applications such as wearable devices, vehicle networking, smart meters, remote monitoring, industrial routers, and remote diagnostics.

Kigen eSIM Empowerment: The Perfect Blend of Cutting-edge Technology and Security

One of the core highlights of the SIM7672 series is its integration of Kigen’s eSIM solution based on the GSMA SGP.32 specifications. This technology not only offers exceptional remote provisioning and management capabilities but also significantly enhances the security and global compatibility of the device. As a leader in eSIM and iSIM technology, Kigen’s cutting-edge eSIM technology, efficient IPAe remote provisioning software, and the eIM cloud platform for lifecycle management ensure seamless connectivity and efficient operations in different global network environments.

The collaboration between SIMCom and Kigen represents not only a testament to their technological strengths but also a key innovation in the IoT industry:

  1. Accelerating the Adoption of Cat-1 bis Technology in IoT
Cat-1 bis modules, with their balanced cost, low power consumption, and broader coverage, have become the preferred choice for many IoT applications. Integrating eSIM technology in the SIM7672 series enables IoT devices to more efficiently adapt to global network changes, promoting the widespread adoption of Cat-1 bis technology across more scenarios.
  2. Helping Customers Achieve Sustainable Upgrades
With the gradual phase-out of 2G/3G networks, the smooth transition of devices has become a major challenge for the industry. The SIM7672 series, with its backward compatibility and global adaptability, provides customers with a reliable technology upgrade path.
  3. Flexibility with Enhanced Security
The SIM7672 features Kigen’s eSIM technology, supporting the remote activation of local operators for instant global deployment. This reduces the complexity of device management for multinational enterprises and provides significant convenience for IoT applications requiring high mobility. Additionally, its use of hardware-level encryption and GSMA specifications ensures highly secure device authentication and data transmission, laying the foundation for IoT applications that require robust security, such as vehicle networking and industrial automation.
  4. Leading the Future of Smart Connectivity
The SIM7672 series has also been validated with Kigen’s groundbreaking eIM (eSIM IoT Remote Manager) solution, optimizing the entire lifecycle of eSIM or eUICC—from activation and deactivation to updates. This provides seamless remote device lifecycle management and operational support, ideal for large-scale deployments of eSIM IoT devices. This is a transformative shift for manufacturers and connectivity providers. As the fields of smart cities, smart energy, and smart agriculture develop, the SIM7672 series, with its powerful new technology, will help customers achieve wider innovation applications, paving the way for the widespread adoption of IoT.

CES 2025: Focusing on the Future of IoT and LPWAN

At CES 2025, IoT and Low-Power Wide Area Networks (LPWAN) were key topics. The GSMA predicts that global IoT devices will exceed 25 billion* by 2025, with Cat-1 technology playing a significant role in the market. As a mid-speed connectivity technology between 2G and LTE-M, Cat-1 offers low power consumption, reliability, and cost-effectiveness, making it ideal for applications in wearable devices, smart meters, smart transportation, smart cities, and industrial IoT.

Recent data from Counterpoint Research shows that the global Cat-1 module market is steadily growing at an annual rate of over 12%. Strong demand for Cat-1 technology in the U.S. market is driven by extensive LPWAN deployment plans and the strategic need for NB-IoT and Cat-M technologies. The launch of the SIM7672 series comes at the perfect time, providing the market with more efficient and reliable connectivity solutions.
