Eseye Unlocks Localized IoT Connectivity to India via Interconnect with National Operator Plintron

Commercial IoT devices on Eseye’s AnyNet Connectivity Network can now use and localise onto Plintron in India, ensuring they comply with India’s telecoms regulations.
Guildford, UK: Global IoT connectivity specialist, Eseye, has now added India’s national virtual network operator (VNO) Plintron, to its AnyNet Federation, meaning IoT devices using Eseye’s advanced AnyNet+ eSIM can connect and localise in India with full compliance. Plintron uses India’s fourth largest mobile network operator (MNO), the state-owned BSNL network, which has strong network coverage, in particular outside the main urban areas.
With permanent roaming now more prevalent than ever across the world and compliance requirements for network access becoming increasingly complex, it’s crucial that manufacturers and managers of commercial IoT devices can localise them onto regional mobile networks and ensure the devices remain compliant, to deliver reliable connectivity.
This partnership gives Indian companies access to Eseye’s global connectivity solutions so they can provide their customers with ubiquitous IoT connectivity for devices located outside India.
The AnyNet Federation means IoT connection traffic for devices outside the home market is directed, and localised where possible, onto other Federation member networks. For example, for an Indian business distributing or selling devices into Africa, Eseye would steer traffic onto the MTN network, and vice versa.
Adam Hayes, COO at Eseye, comments: “It’s becoming harder for MNOs around the world to provide connectivity certainty to IoT customers once a device leaves their region, especially for extended periods. This is partly due to the growing trend to restrict permanent roaming, more complex compliance requirements and the need to support different RAT types (e.g., NB-IoT/Cat-M1, LPWAN, 5G). Our customers need to have assurance that the IoT devices they are deploying today will be reliably connected and remain compliant long into the future. Eseye’s strategy to deliver localised connectivity is key to providing this assurance. Eseye is delighted to add Plintron to our AnyNet Connectivity Federation and extend our connectivity service to India.”
Subhashree Radhakrishnan, Vice-Chairman at Plintron Group, comments: “We are happy to welcome Eseye onto Plintron’s Virtual Operator network. With the combined ability to provide localised access to the broadest network in India and automatically switch between different service providers over the air, we can deliver the best service and ubiquitous connectivity to IoT customers anywhere in the world, with complete reliability.”
