IHS Markit has predicted that by 2035, 5G will stimulate $13.2 trillion in global sales activity across industries and applications.Â
5G's introductory Applications have centered on high-bandwidth applications, including high-definition, high frame-rate video streaming and CPE, that require data speeds high enough that the radio interface won't become the bottleneck. With 5G moving to deliver the next wave of features, including low-latency and ultrahigh reliability, we'll see massive growth in machine-type communications (MTC), also known as "Internet of Things" (IoT). IoT devices will be controlled and managed by people, and the machines will communicate with one another. Therefore, IoT requires more reliable communication links and lower transmission delays, as machines can process information faster than humans. 5G will revolutionize the industry, with more spectrum and more efficient spectrum use, increased capacity and coverage, and higher throughout, enabling many new Applications and B2B opportunities.Â
