Join Blaine Mathieu, CEO of Pratexo, and Alexis Pappas, ETx Advisory Board Member and Chief Innovation Officer at GuildOne, Inc., the Executive Director of the Canadian Blockchain Association for Women, and a Director of the Canadian Blockchain Consortium in a discussion about how Industry 4.0 is fundamentally broken without edge computing - or soon will be. You'll hear about the latest advances in the space and receive insights and practical advice on how IoT and AI are increasingly being done on the edge with Pratexo and popular open-source technologies.
AI, IoT and edge computing technologies have the potential to revolutionize industrial system design across all sectors of the economy. Huge volumes of data are now being consumed at the edge to improve computational capacity, security, privacy, latency, and reduce high cloud-computing costs. However, high-throughput edge computing is extremely difficult to deploy at scale, leading to underutilized - and often canceled - projects post-POC. Where IoT systems are implemented, they are often siloed (by sensor/data type) and rely on centralized cloud networks for compute power.
As a result, capacity, security, and latency risks remain. This is why next-generation edge computing platforms are an Industry 4.0 game-changer, enabling industrial companies to benefit from easy-to-deploy edge computing, for the first time.
Speakers
Blaine is a former software company founder, Gartner analyst, CEO, and multi-time CMO and Chief Products Officer at both public tech giants (such as Adobe) and private enterprise software and IIoT startups (like Mindjet, GoodData, and Vantiq). Over the course of his career, his work has taken him across North America, Europe, and Asia and his passion for AI, IoT, and edge computing has also made him a sought-after speaker at dozens of global industry events. Most recently he built and led Momenta Partner’s Startup Advisory practice, helping to accelerate the next generation of market disruptors. Blaine is now CEO of intelligent edge innovation platform company Pratexo.
The Chief Innovation Officer of blockchain and digital assets firm GuildOne Inc, Alexis has a diverse background in fields including energy, clean technology and digital innovation. A frequent writer and speaker on blockchain, the new economy and sustainability, she is the Executive Director of the Canadian Blockchain Association for Women and a Director of the Canadian Blockchain Consortium. Passionate about inclusion, Indigenous rights and the advancement of women, her vision is of a world where technology always includes the human equation.
Hosts
Pratexo is the plug and play edge computing platform-as-a-service that simplifies and accelerates the design, provisioning, and management of the edge nodes and micro clouds required to host next-generation applications. Based on open and proven technologies, Pratexo unlocks the true value of AI and IoT by enabling you to process data and run applications locally - on the far edge - in real time.We are particularly targeting industrial applications for Pratexo, including those found in energy and utilities, smart cities, maritime, and manufacturing. In these industries, most IoT data is still not fully utilized because it cannot all be sent to the cloud for reasons including security, privacy, latency, cost, etc. Pratexo technology is particularly suited to situations where a full-time connection to the public Internet is not possible or systems must be resilient to disconnection. We are also seeing increasing development of autonomous systems, using AI and machine learning, that must process that data close to or on the machine itself. Those are the challenges that Pratexo was built to solve.Pratexo currently has offices in Texas, Norway, and Sweden.
