A report, “Intelligent Connectivity: How the Combination of 5G, AI and IoT Is Set to Change the Americas,” issued by GSMA (Global System for Mobile Association) at the Mobile World Congress Americas held in 2018 highlighted how this region will gain benefits through the impact caused by "intelligent connectivity."

At the global level, the number of 5G connections is set to reach 1.3 billion by 2025. In total, this will cover 40 percent of the world’s population or probably an approximate estimation of nearly 2.7 billion people.
