Actility’s subsidiary Abeeway, market leader in low-power indoor & outdoor fused geolocation, has launched the Abeeway Smart Badge, a portable multi-mode tracker in ID card format with embedded sensors combining GPS, Low-power GPS, Wi-Fi Sniffer, BLE and LoRaWAN TDoA geolocation technologies, supporting accurate and continuous outdoor and indoor geolocation, making it ideal for tracking, zone notification and monitoring of workforce safety and security.
Abeeway’s Smart Badge precise tracking abilities locate workers and employees no matter where they are, as it works indoors and outdoors. The intelligent tracker adapts to the environment by choosing the best location technology to run on in its present situation, thereby optimizing battery life and, unlike other trackers that work on power-hungry cellular networks, benefits from the power efficient LoRaWAN® connectivity, a communication technology that paves the way for enormous amounts of IoT data with the low power consumption required by IoT applications, The device includes a 1.3Ah rechargeable battery. This high battery longevity allows it to function for more than a year on a single charge, and 90 days with 60 outdoor/indoor positions per day without needing a SIM card to work, saving budget from costly subscriptions.
The Abeeway Smart badge, which is certified by the LoRa Alliance and ready to be deployed worldwide, as it is available for three different frequencies: EU868, US915, AS923, has a compact card form, making it ideal for personal usage, as it can be neck-worn with a lanyard, attached to clothes, or easily fit in a pocket.
The device is designed as multifunctional and ideal for all kind of environments, indoors and outdoors and can be applied in many different industries: Smart Construction, Manufacturing, Oil & Gas, but also in various buildings and offices.
Its simpleness and light weight, combined with its user interface, which includes a buzzer with 80dB high volume, multi-usage SOS button, micro USB connector for charging, an IP65 water-resistant casing and embedded sensors for temperature, motion, and pressure, give access to numerous functionalities which may be personalized for different needs, for example, as a Panic/SOS Button, danger zone signal with an 80db buzzer, a safety evacuation monitor or for optimization of supervisor/worker ratio in large construction or industrial sites.
The Smart Badge has also got a prevailing application, as it is used in Actility’s Proximity Detection and Contact Tracing for COVID-19 Solution, to help workers maintain social distance in shared workspaces during these pandemic times. This solution also helps companies track contamination clusters to help them protect their workers and avoid temporary shutdowns.
